An app is a breakout on APK Surge when it is young and already large: released within a recent window and past an install threshold most apps never reach. Google Play shows the install band of every listing, so the signal is plain to read once you put the release date next to it.

How to watch breakouts with the API

  1. Get a key. Sign up on apksurge.com with an email, no card, and your key is waiting in the cabinet with free monthly tokens.

What is APK Surge?

APK Surge (apksurge.com) is a Google Play breakout tracker built on the APK API. It lists new apps that already have large install numbers, for example apps released in the last 90 days with a million installs or more, with the developer, category and rating of each, across 4.1M apps.

Is apksurge.com an official APK API site?

Yes. apksurge.com is part of the APK API network, and the brand main site is apkapi.com. A key created on apksurge.com uses the same APK API, so it works across the network for keys, billing and documentation.

How does APK Surge decide which apps are breakouts?

It combines two public facts of every listing: the first release date and the install band. An app released inside the chosen window that is already past the install floor counts as a breakout. You set both numbers yourself in the API query.

How fresh is the breakout list?

The index is refreshed every night, so a new app that crosses an install band today usually shows the new band the next morning. Install bands on Google Play move in steps such as 100K+, 500K+ and 1M+, so growth appears in jumps.

Can I see breakouts in one category only?

Yes. Add a category to the query, for example GAME_CASUAL or FINANCE, and APK Surge returns the breakouts of that market only, ranked by installs.

Is APK Surge free?

Yes, to start. An account on apksurge.com includes free monthly tokens with no card. A list call of up to 100 apps costs 2 tokens, so a weekly breakout check stays well inside the free tier; token packs raise the limits for heavy use.
